2004底特律車展預報─HYUNDAI HCD8 Concept

在去年芝加哥車展中，韓國最大車廠HYUNDAI現代汽車，推出了房車旗艦Equus的HCD7原型概念車，並由現代加州產品設計中心負責操刀，融合前衛與英倫古典風格，成就了兼具品味、設計與優雅的房車，可以看出現代的設計功力已經走出自我風格﹔在一年之後，現代車廠繼續自我的創新風格，推出了HCD8概念車，不過這次的產品設計與HCD7並無直接的關係，並且將在明年一月的底特律車展中推出。
HCD8是由新的現代加州產品設計中心操刀，雖然原廠表示這是一款雙門跑車的概念車，但是就草圖來看，更像是一款雙門Crossover變種跑車，這也是近來HYUNDAI車廠所積極努力的方向，也就是朝著性能與多用途的方面發展，以塑造其特有的品牌形象。
動力方面，HYUNDAI車廠將以現行Santa Fe休旅車身上那具2.7升V6引擎安裝在HCD8身上，加裝機械增壓系統並重新調教，預料將可輸出230hp以上的馬力﹔而基於HYUNDAI車廠極力於提昇品牌形象的理由，為了加速產品線的進化，HCD8也很可能成為HYUNDAI Coupe的後繼車型。
