雖然近期北美車市較過去榮景有著明顯的下滑，但重要性仍是不可取代的，仍是有許多全球性大車廠想要於此競爭激烈的市場中求取出頭機會，而近日來自韓國的HYUNDAI更是於美國大興土木，期望能以資金大量投入並興建駐地以增加生產力，提高HYUNDAI品牌於北美市場的競爭力。
此次HYUNDAI的大動作則是選定了美國汽車工業的重鎮密西根州，預計將投入1.17億美金的資金，在密西根州的蘇比略市興建佔地達20萬名方英呎的產品發展中心，未來產生的效應先暫時不估算，光是對當地經濟效應的提升方面，便已增加四百多個工作機會！
除了HYUNDAI近期的大動作以外，NISSAN也早已於密西根州的Farmington Hills擁有了研發中心，員工多達1050人，不僅如此，明年將挑戰GM成為全球汽車產業龍頭的日本TOYOTA汽車，也計畫將於密西根州的Ann Arbor設立產品開發中心，如來如果計畫成真，更將增加六百個工作機會！
