起步比台灣晚的韓國汽車工業，發展不但已經全球化，近幾年來也在全球各地廣設生產據點，利用全球佈局，大幅提昇競爭能力！
在全球化的同時，現代汽車這麼快的飛躍式發展，當然也跟大舉投資美國市場，並且推出許多以當地市場導向為主的產品有極大的關係，或許您身在台灣還不瞭解現代在美國的投資有多少！
去年剛剛竣工的阿拉巴馬整車廠（Alabama Manufacturing Facility），是現代汽車在美國境內的第一個生產據點，先前的整車廠均在加拿大境內，現代原廠為了該廠至少投資超過11億美元，而且也為該州增加了超過二千個就業機會，該廠主要導入生產2006年式全新改款的HYUNDAI Sonata，以及2007年式的大改款Santa Fe！
另外，密西根工程中心（Michigan Engineering Facility）這所佔地超過19萬平方英尺的重要研發單位，也是現代深耕美國市場的例證，為了開發符合美洲市場的車款，該中心也必須針對北美洲多變的地形與氣候環境，作為開發新車重要的參考。
與阿拉巴馬廠同樣在去年開幕的加州試車場（California Proving Ground），佔地超過430英畝，除了完善的試車道與各種場地之外，還配置了先進的車輛安全撞擊測試中心，以提供可以超越美國聯邦法規的安全標準，而加州加州設計研發中心（California Design & Research Center），則是全球現代汽車設計體系相當重要的一份子，現代原廠至少投資三千萬美元於此，這也是現代汽車為什麼近幾年在北美洲市場佔有率快速提升的秘訣之一，在該中心也聚集了美洲的頂尖設計菁英，成為現代汽車在北美洲的設計前緣！
