金卡納賽車運動繼2005年成功推廣開來後，2006年再接再勵，4月23日首站在淡水漁人碼頭開戰，來自全台的金卡納賽車菁英在淡水漁人碼頭公有停車場展開激烈斯殺，本站賽事共有60名車手參賽，其中有3位辣手的女車手出賽，這三位女車手成為全場的焦點。
來自台中的楊孟樵技冠群雄，一舉摘下最佳速度、獎金單淘汰賽及選拔賽冠軍，再度創下三冠王的封號，這一場賽事吸引成千觀眾駐足圍觀，並獲得台北縣政府、淡水鎮公所的支持，在淡水漁人碼頭創下台灣史上的第一場賽車運動。
金卡納賽車運動因為具備高度機動性，再加上賽事內容同時具有嘉年華特性，成功塑造賽車與觀光相結合的特點。2005年中華賽車會積極與台北縣政府接洽，並透過不斷地溝通，2006年開北縣先例，在淡水漁人碼頭外的公有停車場舉辦金卡納賽車運動，這一場賽事不單創下淡水史上的第一場賽車運動，同時為淡水假日的漁人碼頭吸引千位民眾前往觀賽。
中華賽車會活動總招鍾岳峙表示：金卡納賽車運動因為需要的比賽場地較小，賽事的特性不以速度為訴求，而以駕控技巧為考驗主軸，因此安全無慮，再加上在賽事外還規劃了觀眾遊戲區、美食攤位區、改裝車展示區及觀眾體驗區等…，中華賽車會將持續推廣，今年度不單要在台中市中心推廣金卡納賽車運動，同時要將金卡納的足跡伸進高雄的愛河，為台灣的反飆車教育盡心力，更為台灣的觀光加分。
金卡納賽車運動自2003底推廣後就成功吸引眾多的賽車好手參賽，接著在2005年更在台灣創下亞洲史上參賽國家最多的金卡納國際賽，這一項運動同時已獲得國際汽車聯盟FIA的認證，成為國際賽事項目之一， 2006年中華賽車會與國際汽車聯盟FIA及亞洲各國賽車代表再度連成一氣，光是國際賽就有4站即將展開，目前確認的有9月的印尼站、10月的新加坡站、11月的泰國站、而台灣將是壓軸站將於12月舉行，這一項基礎的賽事為台灣車手開創前所未有的光明前程，同時也透過賽車運動將台灣帶往國際舞台。
中華賽車會楊光榮執行長表示；金卡納賽車運動在台灣的發展雖不長，但台灣特有的創新及創意，將這一項運動重新包裝後，不單在台灣成功推廣開來，更成功推銷至國際舞台，而這一項賽事的創意就是來自A1GP(A1方程式大賽)，未來將發展成為國與國的對抗賽，每個國家將派出最強的金卡納賽車手撕殺捉對，這不單是中華賽車會的榮耀，更是台灣走出國際的最佳機會。
冠、亞軍之爭驚險萬分，來自台中e`spec的楊孟樵在stage1中落後荃程的黃勇仁，但楊孟樵隨後在stage2展開反攻，一舉逆轉情勢，最後以總成績0.04秒的差距擊敗黃勇仁摘下當日的第一座冠軍盃，這兩位車手也將於9月代表台灣赴印尼參賽，為台爭光。
