美國是現今世界第一大的汽車市場，但是亞洲人口眾多的中國和印度卻是不可小覷的後起之秀，隨著經濟的蓬勃發展，未來動向也頗受各界關注。HYUNDAI最近在印度發表一項舉足輕重的聲明，表示車價將在下個月調高美金3237元（約台幣9.7萬元），而印度最大的車廠Maruti也表示將在幾天後跟進。
由於材料與零件價格攀升，車廠已有很長的一段時間，面臨生產成本上揚的壓力。當然，鬧的滿城風雨的油價高漲問題自然也脫不了關係。HYUNDAI目前在印度市場推出的車款，有豪華房車Sonata Embera、中型車Accent、掀背車Getz和Santro，這些車款都將受調價波及，差別只是多少而已。
Maruti將在6月24日之後評估生產成本與市場價格的差異，有鑑於HYUNDAI無法承擔成本過高的資金壓力，相信印度車廠的老大哥Maruti自當會就現狀，拿捏價格上漲的幅度。
