南韓車廠HYUNDAI在星期三發佈聲明，明言指出由於利潤過低的關係，將不考慮在南韓生產製造迷你小型車。車廠發言人Jake Jang，除了表示HYUNDAI早在2002年就放棄在南韓生產小型車之外，也不諱言地說明問題所在 : 「一升引擎以下的汽車在南韓沒有賺頭。」
雖然迷你小車在南韓行情不被看好，但是HYUNDAI並沒有全盤否認迷你小車在世界舞台上的表限。車廠將會繼續在印度的Chennai組裝廠製造生產迷你小車，據消息指出，當地的年產量達60萬輛。迷你小車不被看好，但1.3升到2升引擎的小型車倒是仍有發展的空間。
HYUNDAI在南韓推出兩款小型車Avante和Verna，離開韓國後則是以Accent的身分出現。南韓分析師Hahn Kum-hee表示 : 「HYUNDAI在南韓需要著重於中型車款的發展，在這裡消費者通常偏好中型和大型汽車，勝過迷你小車。」韓國消費者對於節能環保的迷你小車興致缺缺，想必令高呼「節能省油」的南韓政府相當頭痛。
HYUNDAI在十月的汽車銷售量為240953輛，比去年同期的209047輛成長15%。其中Santa Fe和Veracruz兩款休旅車在美國大受歡迎，以及i30在歐洲受到當地消費者喜愛，皆是刺激銷售輛的主要功臣。南韓當地銷售輛也比去年同期增加8.9%至55224輛，而出口方面則成長17%至185729輛。
