HYUNDAI上星期日表示為了順應全球綠化的潮流，將趕搭hybrid油電車的節能趨勢。或許是受TOYOTA率領Prius和Camry油電版進軍南韓之舉刺激，HYUNDAI慎重對外宣布，他們將加快在南韓推出環保節能車的速度。
全球對於油價和環保議題的重視，HYUNDAI看在眼裡，在預估節能車未來銷售量時一點也不保守，預計在2010年油電車銷售量將累積100萬輛，由此可見攻佔油電車市場的野心。第一台接受「綠化」的車款是2009年Elantra，在南韓市場是以Avante的身分登場。
這台Elantra(Avante)將會先推出LPG液化石油氣版本，HYUNDAI並計畫在美國市場推出汽油版。不過HYUNDAI目前尚未聲明這台車是否為插電式油電車款。這項野心勃勃的節能推廣計畫不僅止於此，HYUNDAI打算在2010年推出Sonata的替代燃料版。
