    名車列傳(242):HYUNDAI Terracan(2001-2007)

於1999年首爾車展發表的Highland Concept,是HYUNDAI以MITSUBISHI第二代Pajero長軸為基礎的概念作品,2001年則以Terracan之名於全球銷售,成為品牌旗下的LSUV。

擁有4710×1860×1790mm尺碼和2750mm軸距的Terracan,定位上比Galloper要來得更高,是HYUNDAI旗下第一款LSUV,也是針對SUV市場的嶄新嘗試。外觀造型是由HYUNDAI委託歐洲設計工作室操刀,礙於原始車體結構的限制在造型上無法發揮太多,僅能在頭尾燈組與水箱護罩、前後保險桿和引擎蓋等處重新詮釋,因此與原創的Pajero以有非常大差異,甚至和同廠Galloper亦有明顯區隔。

共有雙排五座與三排七座的車室內裝,初期採淺灰色基調,配上大面積的深色木紋飾板與真皮座椅,企圖營造豪華氛圍,但此時HYUNDAI正值轉型摸索的成長期,這樣的設計卻顯得俗氣,但對於韓國消費者來說這更能凸顯高級豪華。2004年小改款時增加米色內裝和淺色系飾板,以讓整體質感全面提升。此外DVD影音系統、雙前座頭枕螢幕、電子羅盤、電動調整前座座椅、電動天窗等配備,與其他車款相較毫不遜色。

至於動力則有柴油和汽油兩種選擇,3.5L V6 DOHC汽油引擎提供200hp馬力,但真正受歡迎的為排氣量2902c.c的CRDi柴油直列四缸引擎,採用共軌直噴設計,具有18.4:1的高壓縮比,可輸出163hp/3800rpm馬力與35.2kgm/2000rpm扭力,兩者均可和五速手排和四速自排組合。備全時四驅傳動系統含AUTO、LOW雙模切換模式,行車速度未超過 80km/h時,可輕鬆地在2WD和4WD模式之間轉換(2H和 4H)。此外更具備加力箱及LSD防滑差速器,提供強悍的越野實力。

在後繼的Veracruz於2006年發表,並於2007年起分別進軍美國和歐洲(ix55),在移植不少越野科技到其他SUV後,Terracan宣布正式退出市場。
