2020成為在美最後一年，HYUNDAI宣布將Elantra GT撤出美國市場

在VOLKSWAGEN宣布取消在美國提供第八代Golf入門車款的決定之後，韓系車廠HYUNDAI在近日也表示，針對北美市場，2020年式將是最後一款Elantra GT，同時，車廠也解釋到，會這樣決定，主要是因為必須應對消費者喜好，以調整未來的產品方向，而在美國車市，掀背車款並沒有那麼好賣。
車廠指出，2020年式Elantra GT佔了整體2020年式Elantra銷量不到5%的比例，在車廠擴大Venue、Kona在內的SUV產品陣容之後，美國展間就很少看到Elantra GT；不過，GT車款的消亡其實並不能全都責怪跨界與SUV車款，畢竟多年以來，美國車主就很少購買掀背式或雙廂車款，較為青睞體積較大型的SUV或是皮卡車型。
根據統計，在2011年對手VW售出了17,839輛第六代Golf以及150,515輛Jetta，但這些銷量並沒有包括GTI或Jetta SportWagen版本車型；而在2000年，兩款型號銷售量分別為20,747台及144,853台、在更早之前的1991年，則分別為8,557輛與38,017輛；而FORD Focus、CHEVROLET Cruze早在幾年前就離開美國市場，DODGE甚至沒有考慮過要將掀背雙廂Dart車型導入美國、僅在中國市場以FIAT Ottimo的名稱銷售，因此，可看出美國消費者這種趨勢其實已經持續有數十年之久。
不過，車廠表示，未來將會推出更多性能N-Line系列車型，像是Elantra N-Line就已在推出的計畫之中，甚至在接下來幾週之內就會發表相關資訊，目前所能確定的是，車款將搭載渦輪增壓四缸引擎、可提供約220匹的馬力。
目前，美國的新掀背車市場當中選擇有限，較多人選擇的大概就是TOYOTA Corolla、SUBARU Impreza、還有未來將被取代掉的HONDA Civic；不過，在全球其他市場當中還是可以看到Elantra GT，只是名稱將改稱為i30，畢竟其他市場對於掀背車款還是有需求，而且比起大型車款，雙廂或掀背車的銷量仍然不會太低。
