2002年，北京汽車集團與韓國HYUNDAI汽車廠，合資建立了北京現代汽車，四年後，該品牌不但在中國汽車市場已經擁有前四大品牌的地位，北京現代更在日前宣布一項重大的計畫！
根據北京現代最新公佈的計畫顯示，該車廠並不甘只是作為一家單純的合資廠家而已，為了讓 HYUNDAI品牌深耕中國汽車市場，更希望提供中國消費者更多符合需求的新產品，北京現代已經正式宣布，將於北京奧運開目前，發布由北京現代同HYUNDAI汽車廠研發的自主設計概念車款！
據資料顯示，由北京現代同韓國HYUNDAI汽車廠合資建立的研發中心，將投入至少5.1億人民幣的資金，佔地達到15萬平方公尺的研發設計中心，也將於2008年正式啟用，屆時北京現代研發設計中心，將至少增聘約110名職工，並且設立四個部門，包括車身與電裝工程部、動力總成與底盤部、規劃管理部和試驗認證部等，以建立全功能的汽車研發設計中心為目標，不僅充分展現HYUNDAI在中國汽車市場扎根的決心，也意味著中國將成為HYUNDAI 全球汽車研發設計體系其中一的戰略性的角色！
