2009上海車展搶先報：北京現代將推出自主設計全新小車！

曾經因為伊蘭特與索納塔車系，在中國汽車市場拿下銷售佳績的北京現代汽車，在與韓國原廠建立全新的產品設計中心之後，不僅在今年初成功推出了以 Elantra為基礎衍生的全新「伊蘭特•悅動」中型房車在剛剛閉幕不久的2008廣州國際車展，更發表全新2009年式的中國專屬版本小改款「領翔」中大型房車。

但北京現代與韓國HYUNDAI深耕中國汽車市場的雄心並不因此停歇，根據最新消息指出，在明年四月份即將開幕的2009上海國際車展上，北京現代將再度發表一輛專為中國市場設計的全新小型乘用車，這款新車將基於韓國原廠最新的小型車平台衍生，在產品世代方面甚至比現行國產化「Accent雅紳特」更新，更可見韓國原廠對於中國市場的重視程度。
北京現代總經理盧載萬更在2008廣州國際車展現場表示，今後計劃在2009-到2011年，每年都準備發表至少1-2新車，加大新車頭放的力度，讓更完整的產品線可以滿足市場需求。
坊間也出現認為現行北京現代雅紳特售價過高而影響產品競爭力的說法，目前在北京現代投產的國產化新車中，2009年式的 HYUNDAI Accent雅紳特車系可以說是入門車款，但北京現代與韓國原廠都認為應該導入產品定位更低的乘用新車，這款將在明年2009上海國際車展上發表原廠代號為EFC的全新小型乘用車款，將成為北京現代進一步拓展低價乘用車市場的戰略車型。
除此之外，北京現代還將發表一款代號為XDC的中型乘用車，這款 XDC新車將以現行舊款伊蘭特為基礎衍生，產品定位介於 Accent雅紳特與Elantra HDC伊蘭特悅動車系。
北京現代也重新發佈對於今年全年產銷目標的計畫，原本年初預定全年產銷新車38萬輛，日前已經調降為32萬輛左右，但盧載萬同時表示2010年達成中國市場產銷百萬輛的目標並不會改變。
