英雄不怕出身低，身為全球第3大汽車集團現代汽車（Hyundai Motor），回首50年前，曾靠著一台Pony小車起家，切斷與日本三菱的臍帶，而成為一家獨立車廠，當年曾請來設計大師喬治亞羅（Giorgetto Giugiaro）設計了Pony的楔形概念車Pony Coupe Concpt，50年後這台概念車重回歐洲，在今年在義大利優雅經典骨董車展中（Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este），現代汽車請來最初概念車計之父喬治亞羅重建。

1974年，現代汽車還在草創初期，韓國進業總部尚無造型設計能力，於提是找來當時還年輕的喬治亞羅操刀，協力設計、製做藍圖，並製造五輛的Pony 原型車。其中一輛是轎跑車型。

而當年的Pony Concept是一台楔形概念轎跑車，但1970 年代的全球經濟危機並沒有為Pony時尚跑車提供太多生存空間，因此在 1975 年，Pony量產車推出，成為一台小型四門掀背車，但1974 年問世Pony Coupe Concept在精神上經久不衰，如摺紙一般的造型，深深影響了現代汽車各個領域的設計語言與風格。現代電動車Ioniq 5和它的概念車45 Concept，以及最近才亮相的現代氫燃料電池車 N Vision 74 Concept，按官方說法，都是受到了 Pony Coupe 造型設計的啟發。

如今距離 Pony Coupe 首次亮相將近 50 年，現代汽車再次召喚喬治亞羅和他的兒子 Fabrizio ，以及他們的造型設計公司 GFG Style，使用原始規格和材料，重建一台和昔日相同的概念車。

這台1970年代的Show Car 具有喬治亞羅最擅長的楔形輪廓，加上剛強的線條處理，還有削去車尾的設計，而保桿與車身同色在當年也可說是獨樹一格，這些元素和風格在當年十分創新，今日則是十分普遍的設計。

重建後的 Pony Coupe 概念車長 4.1 米，由一具 81匹馬力的前置 1.2 升四缸引擎提供動力，該引擎透過手排變速箱驅動後輪。座艙內有單幅式方向盤、細長的桶形座椅和一整個極簡主義的內裝，和線條簡潔俐落的外觀風格相得益彰。

Giorgetto Giugiaro 概述最初的項目是如何進行的，他示，現代汽車找到我們，開始對一款車型進行全面的設計，但我們並沒有太多經驗。起初我持懷疑態度，因為那時我還不了解現代汽車。現代工程師的熱情和承諾，給我們留下了深刻的印象。他們敏銳、好奇、開放並且非常渴望學習。他們立即接受了新的工作方法。他們犧牲自己來給公司和合作夥伴留下好印象。我也很自豪、也很榮幸能夠見證這家公司自我們第一次見面以來的發展歷程。
