北京現代第二廠區正式動工！2008年成為中國第二大車廠！

即使HYUNDAI於韓國本土有些紛擾，但仍不影響北京現代，於中國東北之第二工廠的興建計畫，18日該工廠舉行了盛大的動工儀式，HYUNDAI集團總裁鄭夢九、韓國駐華大使金夏中和北京市市長王岐山等人皆出席儀式！
全新的廠區用地面積達43萬坪，將投資達10億美元，除了生產工廠外，另設有設計研發中心，強化對中國市場的產品開發能力；全新的工廠預計在2007年11月完工，並在驗收後，於2008年一月正式開始陸續投入生產，總年產量可達30萬輛，在中國一片降低產能的聲音中，北京縣代依舊增加產能，顯見其對中國市場的企圖心。
北京現代在第二工廠投入生產後，總產能將達60萬輛，將使其晉升為中國第二大車廠。
