BMW與HYUNDAI，今天以前，你大概很難想像這兩家車廠的名字會被擺在一起，甚至接下來要說出的消息，也會讓正閱讀本篇報導的你不敢相信。根據外媒報導，BMW與HYUNDAI目前正積極商討合作事宜，預計將共同投入13億至26億美元（約新台幣380億至760億元）開發全新引擎！
其實早在去年11月，BMW和HYUNDAI便與BROADCOM、NXP、FREESCALE及HARMON四家半導體公司組成的「OPEN聯盟」（(One Pair Ether Net)，共同投入車內聯網系統的研究，希望未來能夠運用在旗下全新產品之上；而今再傳出將合作開發全新引擎，相信也是為了同一目的。此外根據國外媒體指出，HYUNDAI總裁鄭夢九（Chung Mong-koo）之子鄭義宣（Chung Eui-sun）日前也與BMW集團幹部進行會面，更加助長了此則傳言的可能性。
