六月底南韓再度發生罷工行動，一場由HYUNDAI工會發起的罷工活動，讓南韓HYUNDAI汽車的生產線幾乎癱渙了一整個月，但所幸這場勞資糾紛已在七月底正式落幕。
HYUNDAI汽車是韓國最大的汽車製造業，罷工潮比預期更具殺傷力，原因正是公司被迫停產的一個月，庫存幾乎耗盡，除了內銷市場大受影響之外，主要的出口業務在近期也被迫暫停。7月28日經過員工投票，他們同意降低原本要求調升基本薪資9.1%成為僅調升5.1%的提議，讓原本一度緊繃的糾紛順利結束。
HYUNDAI汽車的第三季收入將因為七月的罷工，不可避免地深受打擊。整體來說，去年七月南韓五個汽車品牌總銷量還有432,078輛，今年則一下子降到了362,984輛，出口的部分，7月份下跌12.7%到288,043輛車，以國內銷售則更低，下降了26.5%，僅74,905輛。但幸運的是，HYUNDAI汽車在中國、印度、土耳其及美國製造廠並未受太大的影響。
