由中國大陸北京汽車集團與韓國HYUNDAI自動車合資建立的「北京現代汽車」，去年動工興建的第二廠區，即將在今年底之前正式完工，在明年初試運轉順利達成後，除了將投產現行北京現代的中型房車伊蘭特HYUNDAI Elantra中國版的後繼車款之外，以計畫投產產品定位低於Accent三廂房車的Getz小型掀背車。
根據最新消息顯示，北京現代第二廠區即將在明年初正式投產新車，除了原先計畫在2008年現地生產的新一代HYUNDAI Coupe新車外，還將增產都會五門掀背小車Getz車系，北京現代這個決定主要是因為中國大陸當地的汽油售價不斷攀升，消費者更傾向選購省油經濟的平價小車所致。
