面對全球隊環保訴求的壓力，世界各大車廠無不想盡辦法盡早推出環保節能車，TOYOTA和GM現在都在積極開發中，而韓國第一大車廠HYUNDAI也不例外。
根據HYUNDAI內部於上星期四表示，他們計畫在2012年大量製造燃料電池車。「我們最早將在2012年正式推出I-blue燃料電池車款，最晚則會在2015年以前推出。」但關於燃料電池車的價格和銷售目標，目前都沒有明確的目標。
HYUNDAI是在九月初於法蘭克福車展首度在眾人面前展出i-blue燃料電池車。據HYUNDAI官方消息表示，他們計畫在2010年先大量生產Elantra油電複合動力車，而汽車市場的專家認為，在15年之內，全球的燃料電池車，將可望從五百萬增加至1000萬，並在2050年以前達到3.5億萬輛。
