現代汽車將加入歐洲平價電動車的大戰，計畫推出Casper微型電動車車價低於台幣68萬

中國車廠挾價格優勢，讓旗下電動車 以低廉價格殺進歐洲市場，逼得各歐洲車廠紛紛推出新的平價入門電動車開發計畫，以便搶回市占，而電動車龍頭TESLA也打算推出Baby Tesla小型電動車，來鞏固彊土，眼看地位一場市場爭奪大戰就要爆發，本周傳出現代汽車（HYUNDAI）也將針對歐洲市場推出2萬歐元以內（約新台幣68萬）的微型電動車Casper EV，加入這場激戰。
根據韓國朝鮮日報的報導指稱，現代汽車今年將在歐洲推出其Casper迷你跨界休旅車的純電動版，售價可能不到20,000歐元。Casper將加入的這個戰場，目前已有許多品牌也計畫出同級的小型和微型電動車，包括在Dacia中國生產製造的Spring，以及雷諾Twingo的電動版和雪鐵龍的eC3等。
Casper將加入目前在該地區銷售或計劃在歐洲銷售的小型和微型電動汽車的行列，包括中國製造的Dacia Spring，雷諾的電動Twingo和雪鐵龍e-C3。 加上現代的Casper電動版，將對付來中國車廠如上汽集團的MG和比亞迪（BYD）的低價電動車。
一位熟悉現代汽車計劃的人士向媒體透露，Casper電動版預計將於今年第三季在歐洲發表，首批車交付將於今年年底開始。而韓國報紙《朝鮮日報》的報導指稱，純電動的Casper的生產將於7月開始。
歐洲主要的汽車製造商目前為對應中國電動車的低價傾銷歐洲，嚴陣以往，計畫推出對應的電動車款，包括雷諾將推出Renault 5（雷諾5號），以及福斯集團旗下各品牌將推出同平台的小型電動車，另外還有雷諾的Twingo電動車和飛雅特（FIAT）Panda電動版，這些微型車在歐洲的起跳價大約25000歐元或者更低。
Casper於2021年針對韓國本土場推出，搭載3缸1.0升汽油引擎，但Casper汽油車將不會在歐洲銷售，它是利用現代在土耳其製造並在歐洲銷售的i10微型車相同的平臺打造。未來純電動Casper將在現代位於韓國光州工廠生產和出口，它將和Casper汽油版混線生產。
在韓國銷售的Casper車長寬高為3,595mm×1,595mm×1,575mm，其尺寸規格正符合「輕型車」的法規規定，而享有稅率的優惠。未來Casper EV在歐洲販售將是一種加長版，根據帶著偽裝的Casper在瑞典進行道路測試的間諜照顯示，這輛車比韓國的汽油版長了200到250mm，加長是為更能滿足歐洲客戶的需求。
