JEEP、MITSUBISHI未來將使用HYUNDAI引擎？

據韓國HYUNDAI汽車表示，現在他們已經開始著手旗下中型房車Sonata在美國的生產計畫。該公司預估，最快在明年五月全新的Sonata即可在美國市場上市，預計將對TOYOTA Camry、HONDA Accord，及NISSAN Altima造成影響。
事實上，全新HYUNDAI Sonata的誕生其意義非常深遠，因為全新Sonata的底盤及引擎未來將使用在多款車型上；舉例來說，下一代Elantra將使用截短後的Sonata底盤，而下一代XG則是將其延長。不僅如此，與HYUNDAI一向保持策略聯盟關係的DAIMLER-CHRYSLER集團，近期也積極接洽使用Sonata底盤及引擎的各項事宜。也就是說，一旦計畫成真，DAIMLER-CHRYSLER集團旗下的CHRYSLER品牌包括Stratus、PT Cruiser和Liberty，在2005年九月過後將陸續使用HYUNDAI的2.0升、2.4升引擎，而MITSUBISHI品牌部分則使用在Eclipse、下一代Lancer等車款中。
