新Sonata在年初的台北車展中也曾登場亮相，姣好的外型令人驚豔。

韓國第一大汽車集團HYUNDAI，在日前推出號稱具有新世代油電混合技術的新世代Sonata新車，藉由嶄新的鋰離子電池與馬達系統，讓油電混合技術的效能更為提升。

使用在新Sonata之上的油電混合系統，是採用2.4L四缸汽油引擎搭配一具擁有30kilowatt 的平行電動馬達作為主要構成，而且相較於其它車廠因為傳統變速箱難以與電動馬達進行應對而多以CVT變速箱來搭配油電系統的作法，HYUNDAI則克服了相關問題繼續以六速自排變速箱來搭配，並且提供性能與節能兩種不同的換檔模式選擇。
而在電池技術的部分，HYUNDAI領先日本車廠率先將鋰電池應用在量產油電車款之上，藉由與LG的合作，新Sonata的鋰電池組僅有43公斤而以（與滿載50公升的油箱相去不遠），相較於日系車款慣用的鎳氫電池不僅有體積小、重量輕與高效率的優勢，而且這具由72個單位組成的電池，不僅可以滿足30萬英哩的行駛距離期間內多次充電放電的耐用性，而且就算是到了使用壽命末期，其電能蘊藏量只不過也只有10％的衰退而已。
如此一來，油電版的新Sonata將擁有在9.3秒完成0-100km/h起步加速過程的實力，並且達到每公升行駛17公里左右的油耗表現，而像是使用電力驅動的汽油泵與空調系統以及Start & Stop功能，都將為新車提供進一步的節能效果，甚至可以純電力的方式，在100km/h的速度下行駛。
HYUNDAI將以BlueDrive來作為新Sonata油電技術的名稱，預計能夠挹注增加5％-7％左右的車系銷售，換句話說大約為年銷1.5萬輛左右，預計在今年9月左右便能上市，其主要的銷售地區將集中在北美與韓國本土。
