備戰2013年賽事，HYUNDAI開始測試i20 WRC廠車

說到WRC（World Rally Championship、世界拉力錦標賽）這幾年可說是波動不斷，繼MINI因資金不足等問題宣佈退出2013年WRC後，沒多久FORD也表態不再參予此賽事，不過還是有VW、TOYOTA以及HYUNDAI等新車廠即將加入，替WRC賽事增添不少新風氣。而預計在2014年參戰的HYUNDAI在日前也開始進行i20 WRC廠車的各項測試。

HYUNDAI表示在2013年5月中時i20 WRC已經在一個私人安全的場地進行車輛動態測試，並收集相關數據以及資訊交付給原廠工程師來做分析。為期三天的測試時間i20 WRC一共跑了近550km，得到初步的測試結果後未來還有8個月的時間來進行調整，期望在2014年WRC開賽時車輛能有最穩定的表現。

其實HYUNDAI在1998以及1999年就已參加WRC的F2組別賽事，並自2000年起以Accent賽車參加A8組賽事，只不過幾年下來成績並沒有讓原廠滿意，只好在2003年WRC賽季結束後黯然退出。而這次HYUNDAI所打造的i20 WRC廠車則是針對S2000組賽事而來，在車型以及動力的優勢下期望能創造出優異的成績。

而WRC自2011年賽事開始就改用1.6L渦輪增壓引擎為動力來源後，隔年就吸引了MINI、VW等車廠參予賽事，而原本CITROEN以及FORD這兩支強勁的隊伍也換上了車型更小的DS3、Fiesta來應戰，雖然這幾家廠隊的表現都不差，但還是有幾家在2013年相繼退出WRC賽事，不過除了HYUNDAI以外，TOYOTA也曾暗示2014年可能會重返WRC參加比賽，屆時就真的相當精采了。
